Well.  It’s official. I have had my “poo in my pants” experience! I woke up out of a dead sleep and felt sick. Since I am on a top bunk in the corner of the room, it made it quite difficult to do anything quickly. I finally found my light and headed towards the door. As I got outside, I couldn’t wait anymore. I projectile vomited in a tree and then ran to the bathroom-which had no light and was just a cement room with a toilet. I won’t go into any more details, but just know it was bad. Things were coming out of every end at the same time. I was sitting there on the floor crying thinking, “I want my mom.” I knew that was impossible so I prayed that someone would come. I was thinking I wanted to get up and get Pam. Then someone tried to get into the bathroom door, and sure enough, Pam opened the door. I was so relieved. I just said, you are an answer to my prayer. She helped me get a bucket to shower with and then helped me get to bed. I ended up throwing up once an hour for the rest of the night. It was AWFUL!

I was able to sleep until around noon. I wanted to talk to my mom so bad. I knew she would make me feel better, plus I knew she would PRAY!! I still have phone service on my phone for emergencies. I decided I would feel better if I could at least text her. So, I quickly texted her to let her know I was sick and asked her to pray. She quickly responded and said she would. Come to find out, she not only prayed, but she sent out a text asking for prayer to my friends and family. It was about at that time, that I started feeling better. I was able to sit up without feeling sick and I actually was able to walk to the store to get cheese to make a grilled cheese sandwich (my favorite!). It is amazing to see how quickly God can move when people come together with the same purpose! Their prayers allowed God to heal me! Praise Jesus!

While lying in my bed thinking about how much I needed my mom, I was thinking about all of the widows we have had the opportunity to meet this week. Part of our ministry in Xenacoj, is to pray with widows. We had the opportunity to visit one widow who had 3 kids. We helped tear part of her house down so another ministry can build a new one for her. I was just so amazed at how much she has to do for her family. She is the mom for them. She feeds them. She protects them. She provides for them. She does it all, while having a 2 year old in a sling on her back! I was amazed at her strength. I cannot imagine what it is like to lose a parent, but I saw how much it means to have a parent fully present. Her kids were at peace. Everything was taken care of. She made sure of it. I know that I take that for granted sometimes. Moms are definitely special. There is special love that comes from them. Moms are needed.
