So today I was reading in Numbers!  Not sure I’ve ever been so excited about that!  I’m attempting to just read the Bible “like a book” from front to back.  This was the perfect day to read this!  Also, if you’re just joining us, WELCOME!

The previous post talked about Squad Wars.  There are different groups of people going to different places all over the world starting in September and each group is called a “squad.”

The 2nd challenge for Squad Wars is to see which squad can have the most people at $3,500 in their funding by June 13th. This number, not to mention $16,000, can appear so large and impossible to me at times, as can other things in life.

I was praying about this today and trying to give it over and praying for our team and the trip, my family, and other requests of loved ones, etc., and I opened to Numbers 11.

Basically, the Israelites were complaining because they wanted meat.  Moses heard the people and brought the matter before the Lord.  He also talked about how the burden of caring for all those people was too much for him to bear alone.  So God did a few things…first, he told Moses to gather seventy of the elders of Israel to help bear the burden.  Second, He said he would give them meat to eat…not a day or two or even twenty, but a whole month!  HOWEVER, and this is where there is a little twist to this, the people would eat their fill and then get sick because they complained and rejected the Lord’s providence with the manna and bringing them out of terrible enslavement in Egypt, which they had totally wanted.  Moses couldn’t believe that there would be meat for a whole month!  He tried to conceive of this in human terms…Would he have to kill all the flocks and herds or gather all the fish in the sea!?  I love God’s answer…”Has the Lord’s hand become short and inadequate?  You shall see now whether My word shall come to pass for you or not.”

So…quail wasn’t really readily available in the desert, however, God sent forth a wind and brough quails from the sea and let them fall beside the camp…all around the camp!  The people gathered them up and ate until they were full, which rocks, and also they did end up getting sick because of their greediness/ungratefulness, as well…which they were told would happen!

Moral of the story for me…

#1.  GOD ROCKS!  Why in the world do I doubt?  He can do anything!  Create winds…bring quail out of nowhere…etc…

#2. BE THANKFUL!  Instead of seeing what I don’t have, focus on all the blessings and thank Him!  Be content and grateful knowing that I’m in crazy good hands!  God keeps His word, as we also see here, and so…

#3. REST in all of the above.   “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God,which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:4-7

This picture was taken at a very pertinent time in my life!  May I remember this stance always!

Dear Lord, thank you that you’ve got this and help me and anyone else who has ever felt like something is beyond them to “Trust in the Lord with all our hearts, lean not on our own understanding, in all our ways acknowledge You, and You will direct our paths.”  Proverbs 3:4-6.

If this is your first time on here, please look at the other posts to see more of what has been going on and more about the trip!

Whether this is your first time or 100th, SO GLAD YOU’RE HERE!!!

Love <><,

Julia
