I have been living here in the Philippines for more than a month now,
And I can honestly say one thing:
I miss what cold feels like.
In all seriousness, even though the weather here is not my favourite, there is still so much more to this country than what meets the eye. The food here is amazing, the ministry here is so amazing, and finally the people are what makes this country so hospitable and kind.
I think I’ve eaten more fish here in the Philippines, than I have in my entire life. I have also learned, it is more than acceptable to eat with your hands (Who’s laughing now Mom).
Something else I love about the Philippines, is that pretty much everybody knows english. Even if it’s a very small amount (Which is very helpful if you get lost, I know from experience).
I apologize! I still haven’t explained what my ministry has been this past month. My team and I have been working at First Sunshine Baptist Church/Christian School doing things like teaching in classes, doing extracurricular activities with the kids, and also organizing a martial arts themed VBS. (Yes, I learned Karate for the VBS)
In two days, we will move location 30 mins from where we are now to a camp site called: “Balabog”. We will no longer be working at First Sunshine, but building a church at the camp we are living at for our last month of our World Race.
As much as I miss my family back home in Kitchener ON, Canada, I have met so many people on my journey that feel just like family.
When you ask God to take you on a journey, He will not disappoint.
Trust me,
I can tell you from experience.
I am excited to finish this last month strong,
I am excited to start another journey when I get home,
I am excited for what God is doing in all of the countries I’ve visited so far,
And I am excited to tell you all in person about my journey.
God bless,
Josiah
