Now I’m not sure what you think of when I say the word debrief, but it is basically a week that we have to prepare for the next country we depart to.

The next country we were going to be in was Ethiopia, but due to political unrest and multiple other issues, our risk management team made a wise decision to reroute us to Rwanda. (Woo-Hoo! French speaking country!)

Our adventures staff also like to host our debriefs in nicer places to give us time to unwind and get prepared for our next journey. So they decided to have us stay for a week in San Juan del Sur: The surfing capital of the world.

Now this is very cool for me, because I have never seen the ocean before (I’m not sheltered, I just have never seen it). So to be in the surfing capital of the world for my first experience of the ocean, is probably one of the coolest things ever.

It is also great because during this debrief we will have worship sessions, reflection time, and also hear what new teams we will be on

If I’m being honest… I am a little sad about this. I have grown in community with my team and am comfortable in their presence. But I realized something,

God puts us in uncomfortable situations all the time, because he wants us to grow. If he didn’t put us in hard places like that, we would never change. So whatever challenges may arise, I know that God put me in that place for a reason.

If you are experiencing uncomfortability, (may it be with a co-worker, a community you are in, or a friendship or relationship) that is a place of growth for those around you, or even just for you.

I know whatever happens community-wise for me in the upcoming future, I can deal with,

Because God put me there to grow.
