Many times when people go out on mission trip for a long period of time they get disillusioned when it comes to church. They go out and serve the sick and needy and realize those same things are not happening at their church at home. I have had many conversations with former World Racers and find the same sentiment. They also feel that people are not in touch with really listening to the Spirit and where it is leading them. I completely understand once you step into an environment like this and see the things you see Church can never be the same. There is no way to go back home and step into a church, an environment, which is not
serving their community and their needs.
My heart cries out for those who are without. My heart cries out to those who do not know the Father. It is exactly why I feel so blessed. Stay with me here. Back home I go to a church called Revolution Church (www.iamrevolution.org) in Gainesville, Ga. The longer I am on the World Race the more I feel blessed to have found a place that stands on what God calls us to do. It is a Church (people not a building) that serves the community that God has placed it in. It is a group proud to give to those who have nothing. The reason is not just for the sake of feeling good about a good deed. It is about that good deed opening the door to share about Jesus. Praise God I go to a church that realizes that nothing we do will ever matter if we are not ushering people into the Kingdom of God!! What would be the point?!! And along the way as you serve those around you, you are brought closer to the Father yourself because you are living through His Spirit.
Back home Revolution Church as starting a campaign called Go love some body (www.golovesomebody.com). It is an opportunity to join together and serve those around you. You can cut the grass of someone in your neighborhood. Maybe for you it is listening to that person and work that is hard to listen to. Afterwards you can go to the website and share with others what God put on your heart to do. And that gives you the chance to give God the glory in it and maybe give someone us the courage to do the same. The seed you plant in loving on those around you is giving them a glimpse of the Father who is love. When you read the words go love somebody, you should be reading go give someone Jesus. What greater calling is there? You never know what the love you give someone will mean. Your act of love to a father that is down on himself for not having a job may give him courage to continue pressing on. You may help him remember the love he has for his family, when he was ready to give up. Trust in the Father when He puts on your heart to pour into someone else’s life. And let Him carry the weight of the seed bearing fruit.
Loving others is the only way to truly understand the Father. Loving others draws us closer to him. It allows us to be willing to give of ourselves so others may benefit. Jesus set the example on that one. Why do we not do the same? Why not Go love somebody? Why not be revolutionaries?
