So within these past two weeks the Lord has been so amazing and faithful!! Flying into Guatemala just looking at the beauty was incredible. Now I get to live in the beauty. Finishing up my second week and heading into my third week we are slowly starting to get the hang of the rhythm of things but still things are always changing and as soon as we have a set plan something changes.

This past week from Tuesday-Friday, since Monday was Guatemala’s independence day, we officially started our classes at the schools. Things were changing constantly as we worked out a schedule in order to work with the schools and our schedules to get back home.

Here are some of the difficulties:

  • Had to switch hour classes to half an hour because an hour is way too long to teach without kids losing their focus
  • Making sure we were evenly spaced throughout the schools in order to teach
  • Deciding on how and when to teach the adult class
  • How many classes we were going to teach in the afternoon
  • Which day we were going to put in a manual labor day to take a break from school
  • If some kids were too young to teach
  • ……….and the list goes on

My official schedule starting this week I think goes like this (everyones is a little different)

Wake up every morning at 6:00am to get ready and take a shower and eat breakfast and be in the van at 7:15am to have our one and a half to two hour drive into town everyday where we teach.

I start class at 9:30 and teach three classes in a school that is a rented home.

At 12:30 we teach an adult class at one school.

At 2:00-3:30 we teach two more classes at another school and then we finally head home.

So also those of you who don’t know that is 6 classes in one day, 4 days a week and each one of those classes is an ESL class. Teaching English has been a big challenge but an extremely amazing experience at the same time. And these kids at these schools who we teach bring me so much joy and I get so excited to see them every day even though they drain my energy. In the middle of the week, Wednesday, our team decided to put in a manual labor day to work with our contacts ministry, Engadi Ministries, you all should seriously check it out it’s amazing. We are working with Nathan to help build roads and whatever they need us to do in order to help them step by step create there “Boy’s Home” to get the boy’s off the gang infused streets of Guatemala and teach them to be men of God. Right now with the amount of donations they are getting it will take them 160 years to finish everything but they remain faithful to God and know He will provide. So I would encourage you all if you feel the Lord telling you to, to please look into the ministry and pray and consider considering this amazing ministry! Also I’m not sure if there is a link or not on the ministries website but if you can get ahold of the documentary they made and watch it cause it’s amazing!

So yah Jesus has been doing awesome things and is making Himself more evident in my life every day and has been showing His faithfulness by seriously answering my prayers within a few days and even sometimes within a few hours of me talking with Him!

Continued prayers for encouragement, comfort, and peace in times of struggle. Prayers for amazing things to happen and for the Holy Spirit to work through me and to make me an amazing light for Jesus are always welcome!!
