Hello family, let me update you on what I have been doing this month in Thailand. I have been working with women in a cafe who used to be in the sex trafficking industry. Who use to be working in bars. The organization, Lighthouse in Action, focuses on three things! One is prevention, which has us working in the slums of Thailand, loving on the kids. These are the same kids that are recruited to work in the bars in the evening where they sell items to tourists. Some of the girls in the rural area of the country are recruited to work in the larger cities as a waitress or promised other jobs. Instead, they work in bars, but most of the time in prostitution.
This month is an all squad month, that means all 40 of us are together instead of just my team, which consists of 7 people. However, we have different ministries. Two of our all girl teams are working in the bar ministry, where they make relationships with the girls who work at the bars and try to help them know their worth and eventually talk them out of that lifestyle. The 3rd phase is restoration, it’s where the organization helps the women with a place to stay and a new trade that they could work in. Trades such as becoming a barista for the coffee shop that I’m working in. I am currently working in the cafe ministry where we work alongside with the girls. I get the opportunity to love on them and help around the shop. My focus is to show them how a man should work and love a woman without wanting anything in return.
