For this last year after my adventure on the World Race, I have been pursuing my calling from The Lord. In that pursuit, I have had some ups and downs in figuring out where to get plugged in.

Last October, I was asked to come help out with a World Race training camp. I helped out and it was a turning point for me. Shortly after the camp, they offered me a job to work in the kitchen full time. I hadn’t planned on cooking after the race but felt it was a door being opened. I said yes and moved to Gainesville last November.

Living in Gainesville has been everything I’ve needed. I have been molded by the loving community and mentored by a few men and women. Still my heart has longed for more, to be walking out more of my calling and to get back out on the mission field. I’ve been given ample opportunity for growth and development, but I’ve still been looking for what the Father had next for me. I’ve had several opportunities to revisit the mission field, but nothing felt right – great ministries but wrong timing. I kept praying for his timing and seeking more growth while working in the office.

Then God answered my prayer from left field! Last week I was asked if I would go on the Race again. My answer surprised many – I said YES. It seems crazy or weird to some but I truly loved the Race and all that The Lord did in and through me. I’ll get to do ministry with exactly the group of people I feel called to in places that need Jesus.

It’s not always easy. Yes, it’s going to be a journey that I’ll be stretched even more than the first time. But don’t we ask for more? I feel if we stop being challenged and stretched we are doing it wrong. I can’t and won’t just settle in this life any longer. I’ve done that too much, I want more.

I’ll admit this isn’t the way that I thought He would answer my prayers. It looks way different than anything I expected but none the less it is truly an answer and I’m going after it.

That being said I’m going to be needing lots of prayer to get prepared. I leave beginning of September and have a lot to get done!
