The difference in culture is so great compared to Haiti. Within an hour of being in Asia I offended a woman in the airport. After around 60 hours of travel I was worn out so I kicked up my feet next to her. I saw her look at me like she couldn’t believe what I was doing and got right up and moved 4 chairs down. I was annoyed by her lack of patients towards me but this lifestyle is far different here.
I have had to take a look about what I thought being a missionary looks like. There is no missionary mode; it is a lifestyle I am learning to adopt. I falsely have the thought that I need to get back into that “mode.” Here our ministry is helping university students to learn English and building relationships. We were told not to share the gospel!
I’m sure your first thought was a lot like mine, I couldn’t believe that was what they did here. The gospel can be very offensive to people here. But we are the living and breathing gospel. All our stories tell of Christ’s victory. Our savior is in us and shines through us. What people here need is the love of Christ, not doctrine or any bible beaters, just love.  So what we are going to do for the next 3 and a half weeks is to build relationship, get to know the students, have fun, and God will open doors to share about him. Being a kingdom minded man doesn’t mean I need to start my tally of people who have prayed and accepted Christ as their savior by the words I say. Everyone is in his or her walk and all I want to do is point to Christ.
I had a dream last night that speaks perfectly of Christ. I was walking through a mall and I knew Jesus was close. I was looking to the left and then to the right. I stopped and turned around because maybe he was right behind me the whole time. But, he wasn’t there either. I kept walking, then I turned a corner and I saw someone talking to a group of 4 or 5 people. They were proclaiming Christ and loving on them and Jesus said “, there I am.”
