I have had the pleasure of sharing my exciting news about The World Race with so many people over the last few weeks. Naturally, there were some questions. Here are a few of the most common questions:

What is The World Race?

The World Race is one of many programs offered by Adventures in Missions, an organization based in Gainesville, Georgia. Missionaries going on The World Race travel to 11 countries in 11 months while sharing the Gospel and the love of Christ to people all over the world. In addition to serving people around the world, Racers receive discipleship and live in awesome community with other missionaries as God breaks their hearts for His people.

Wow, 11 countries?! Where are you going?

Albania, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, India, Nepal, Mongolia, and China! This list is subject to change due to any safety concerns, etc.

How did you decide to go on The World Race?

It was a long, but good process. The biggest factor was my month in Tanzania in June of 2012 when I lived and did ministry with a World Race team. During this month, I found a passion for international missions as well as a love for international travel! I am blessed by this experience to not only experience diverse cultures, but to also experience diverse ministries around the world.

To learn more about how I ended up going on The World Race, check out my first blog here.

How many people are in your group?

I will be traveling from country to country with my squad, which will consist of roughly 50 people. Once in the country, we will split up into teams of approximately 8 people and go to various ministry locations throughout the country.

Do you know anyone on your squad?

Not yet! I can’t wait to meet them and get to know them in person! Until then, Facebook and blog stalking will have to do!

Are they all going to be like you?

I hope not! One of the things that make The World Race great is the diverse backgrounds of the missionaries on each squad. I know that I will bring something unique to my squad and I can’t wait to learn and grow from people that have different experiences than myself.

The age range for World Racers is 21-35 years old. Some Racers have attended college and some have not. Racers will represent several states and perhaps a few countries as well.

What will you be doing?

This depends on the needs of the local people and which ministry contacts we are partnering with. Examples of ministries may include teaching English in schools, volunteering at an orphanage, preaching at churches, or partnering with anti-human trafficking organizations. I am excited for the diverse ministry opportunities!

Does this require any special training, degree, etc.?

I will be attending Training Camp in May where I will be preparing for this journey with my squad. I will also have some online preparation. The rest will be “hands on” learning with support along the way.

How much financial support do you need to raise?

By January 1st, 2015, I am required to have $16,252 in my support raising account. This covers all of my travel, food, lodging, and insurance from the time I launch to the mission field to when I return to the States.

That is a lot of money! Is it possible to raise that much?

Yes! I have Faith that God will provide with abundance for this ministry. I have personally witnessed how God has provided for former World Racers and could tell you some pretty amazing stories! This is definitely an area that myself and other Racers need to trust God and at times it may be the most challenging part of our journey. I cannot wait to share my testimony of how the Lord provided for me and my teammates.

How can I support you?

Prayer. This is incredibly important for safety & health, abundance in financial support for myself and other World Racers, our ministry contacts, the wonderful people in each country, and for the advancement of the Kingdom in all corners of the Earth. Additionally, encouragement from you will make a huge difference during any difficult times on the Race.

Financial Gifts. I am praying for financial supporters that will help supply me with the funds necessary to share Christ’s love around the world.

  1. Financial gifts can be processed online by visiting my blog (joshuabeebe.theworldrace.org) and clicking the “Support Me!” link on the left side of your screen and follow the instructions given. A 3% processing fee will be added to your donation. (For example, a $100 donation will require an additional $3 for the fee to cover processing charges)
  2. If you prefer to give with through the mail, you may send a check to Adventures in Missions, 6000 Wellspring Trail, Gainesville, GA 30506 and write my name, Joshua Beebe, in the memo line.
  3. I am also seeking monthly supporters. If you feel led to donate monthly, “Dynapay” is a great way to do so! Dynapay is an automatic monthly bank withdrawal; you can fill out the form online at (www.adventures.org/dynapay/). There is no fee for this type of donation.
  4. For my local supporters, you may mail a check written to “Hope Wesleyan Church” with “World Race” written in the memo line to 505 4th Ave NE, Independence, IA 50644 or simply drop it off in the church office!
