For the past ten days I have been tested physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. “Training Camp” was the last interview process of the World Race trip. There were physical requirements of this trip which included a timed, 2 mile hike (with all my gear) and a 18 mile hike with a modified pack. Thankfully I passed all the requirements despite almost peeing on a rattlesnake.
I was also tested spiritually. There were several sessions each day and different Bible studies throughout the week that challenged me and pushed me to do a lot of soul searching. One of the biggest things that I gleaned from this experience was knowing that there is more to learn and grow in. I’m not done learning!
Lastly I was tested emotionally. Imagine living in harsh conditions and working in stressful situations for ten days in a row. You aren’t able to take normal showers or even get away. You wake up with people, spend the day with people, and fall asleep to people talking and/or snoring. This was a test but thankfully our squad was great and I got along with everyone!
God equips those he calls.
This is a phrase that people often hear in church settings. The reality is that God doesn’t ever call us to be comfortable – He calls us to be brave. God want’s us to step out in faith and trust that no matter what we are going through, He will be there with us. That doesn’t always mean that it will be rainbows and unicorns, on the contrary, God will often take us through fire, but he is always with us.
It was really hard to record and take pictures during all this testing but here is a short video of what I was able to get. Here is the World Race training camp recap in 45 seconds.
