Well its been three weeks now and just yesterday I took my first shower and today I have gotten internet for the first time. We get Mondays off as free days and today we decided to pay to go to the nearest town that had internet and something that resembles American food. It is already so weird to be about to check ESPN and do emails and such. I am appreciative for the break.
So for those that don’t know I am right now not in Romania as scheduled but instead am in Moldova. We have been here for two weeks and have been doing ministry in a small town of Cornesti. In the mornings we are working really hard building a greenhouse for the church here so they can be more self-sufficient and most afternoons we spend with the kids to programs and playing games.
Evangelism is also a big part of our ministry. We have done a couple of outreach events now that contain skits and concerts and stuff like that with the intent of sharing Christ. Our contact is awesome but he has a knack for calling on the few guys here to give on the spot sermons with no preparation. For instance yesterday during church he informed me during the service that I would be speaking saying that it will be ok because he will sing another song so I can prepare. Yikes. Talk about getting really dependant really fast.
I am incredibly thankful to be here though. I really love the community and already have changed a lot. We all have. It will be crazy to see where we are at a couple of months from now.
Our living situation is really nice right now. We have no running water or anything but we get to sleep indoors in bunks which we are really thankful for. We spend $4 a day on food for our whole team which is actually a little expensive. We get a lot of tomatoes and bread and cornmeal mush stuff. Its filling so I am not complaining. I do miss milk and burritos though.
My teammates are excellent at blogs and pictures and for those that know me I am not so I am going to give you links to them and you can get a better picture about what is going on.
