It is with much excitement and apprehension that I tell all of you that I am officially part of the World Race January 2016 Route 2! You may be wondering, “What is the world is the World Race?” Well, I am here to tell you that the World Race is a long-term missions trip to 11 countries in 11 months. We will be helping orphans, widows, feeding homeless, teaching English, building churches and houses, and doing anything necessary to bring the Light of Jesus to the world.
I know, I know, that may seem like a long time, but I want you to hear my heart in this: I firmly believe that this is what God has for me in the next season.
My journey with the World Race and missions began in elementary school. I was at a church camp, and one of the speakers talked about some foreign missionaries to Africa, and all the miracles that were happening on the mission field.
Up until that point, I had no idea what a missionary even was, but that day, I became infatuated with the idea of missions, and God birthed in me a true heart for missions way before it was ever even possible for it to happen.
Over the course of my life, I was in and out of different ministries and after I gave my heart to the Lord, I even went on a couple short-term missions trip, but I never seriously considered becoming a missionary.
At least not until two years ago. I was at a leader training at my church, and I was sharing my heart for missions with a friend. She asked me, “Jordyn, have you ever heard about the World Race?” and honestly, at that point, I hadn’t. She told me what it was and I looked it up. Instantly, I was obsessed with all the stories and miracles that were happening with all the other Racers. However, I was not yet 21, and so I put it on the shelf and all hope of going on the world race vanished from my mind. But God had a different plan.
Beginning in January of this year, God began to remind me of the World Race, and I began reading all the blogs again. Slowly but surely, I could feel the voice of God get louder and louder in my spirit that this was what I was supposed to do in this season. After multiple confirmations, I decided to apply, and a couple weeks later, I was accepted.
I know at first it may seem crazy to leave all that is comfortable and backpack around the World for a year, but I believe that God will honor me through it.
To go on this trip, I have to raise about 16,000 dollars. That may seem like a whole lot, but God is bigger than any money amount, and He will provide. I am asking that you will prayerfully consider supporting me on this journey.
I also have never been backpacking, so there is a lot of gear that I will need on my trip. I have made an REI Wishlist that you can find here: http://www.rei.com/WishlistView?id=c0079187-63a4-415f-8c2e-f2c050785096
If you would like to support me in that way, that is where you can find everything I will need. I am so grateful for all of my friends and family that have made me the woman I am today, and it is with great joy that I share this part of my life with you.
While I do need your financial support, I also need your prayers. Please be continuously praying for God’s provision and peace in this season.
I love ALL of you so much!
Thank you for being the best friends and family a girl could ever have!
Love,
Jordyn
