Wow, is it month 3 already?! Where has the time gone??
Alas, we are finally in Honduras!! As I picked my route for the Race, I knew that Honduras was one of the countries I was most excited for. This country has such a special place in my heart because this is my third time being here! I am so excited to live here for an extended period of time and learn more about the people and culture. I’m also excited to see different parts of Honduras than I’ve been to before. I just love this place!
This month, I am living in a city called Talanga and working with a ministry called Heart of Christ or Corazon de Cristo en Español. Talanga is about an hour outside of Tegucigalpa. Heart of Christ is an orphanage, which currently houses 13 beautiful children, and is a refuge for victims of abuse.
We get to do a variety of things with this ministry. We do housework around the property, help the children in their schooling, work with the construction team in building their new children’s home, and package and deliver Christmas gifts to children in surrounding villages. They’ve definitely been keeping us busy this month, but it’s been so great!
As I thought about this month before arriving, I just kept thinking about the word growth. Through my previous trips to Honduras, I have learned so much about the Lord and my own heart. I even had the honor of sharing my heart for missions with my dad in this place. Honduras has definitely been a place of growth for me in the past, and I truly believe that this will be a huge month of growth for me on the Race. Join me as I take on Honduras this month and enter what I hope so be a serious growth month!
Lord, open my heart up to the new experiences and new places that Honduras has to offer. Let this place continue to grow me as I walk with you. Thank you for bringing me back here. Thank you for growing me here.
