Hola from Nicaragua!!!

It’s been a long while since I posted a blog, but I’ve had a great month so far in Nicaragua!! This month is all squad month, so I’ve been serving alongside all 46 of my squad mates this month. We’re serving with a ministry in Chinandega, Nicaragua called Vision Nicaragua. This organization works in the community through door to door evangelism, working with local churches, and just forming relationships with the people in the area.
Our ministry has been jam packed all month with a bunch of different activities!
Some days, we go door to door and share about the love of Christ.
One day, after a team prayed at her house, a lady decided to bless everyone with watermelons!
At one house, a lady let me play with her bird, Lola!
Wherever we go in the villages, there’s always a pack of kids that follow us around and play with us!
This is my evangelism group with a lady named Maria Esteban. She warmly welcomed us into her house and told us about how the Lord sent us to her house specifically. She renewed her walk with Christ that day, and we got to celebrate with her. She left in tears exclaiming praises for the Lord’s provision in bringing us to her house. After all “The Lord didn‘t make countries, He made a planet”- Maria Esteban.
Our “Casa a Casa” days aren’t always super successful, but we have seen the Lord knock on the hearts of so many people. It’s so cool to think of the seeds that we are watering for the Lord!
On Sundays, we go out the to community and make church happen!
During our first church experience, I got to work with the children! We taught a lesson about the fruits of the spirit and finished out the day by singing “Yo tengo gozo, gozo, gozo, gozo en mi corazon” and playing tag! This is Carlita, Blankita, Nicole, Charlo!
During our second week “doing church” I shared a testimony about what God has been doing in my life!
Some days, we paint the walls of our compound!
We served the organization by making it look a little nicer! We painted the walls in the kitchen, mission house, and the onsite clinic! It was a lot of work, but with 46 people we made it work! We even painted a “screen” to use with the projector so we could watch movies (and the Thanksgiving day parade!!!)
Some days, we go to schools and hang out with kids!
My favorite day was the day that we drove up to a schoolyard FULL of screaming kids! We had a message for them, sang some songs and played a BUNCH of games! I met two of the sweetest girls at the school named Sayani and Giselle. They made me feel so special by putting flowers in my hair and taking a bunch of silly pictures with me! Maybe they will be professional photographers one day because they LOVE taking pictures!

On another day after door to door ministry, we got to play on the playground will all of these sweet friends! They taught me how to play “Lanta Lanta,” which is tag, and they gave me a really nice hairdo!
Some days, we watch the boys play baseball with the locals!
Baseball is the national sport of Nicaragua, so we decided to use the sport for evangelism! We sang some worship songs, had a message, some people gave their testimonies and then the boys played ball! I didn’t take any pictures because I was running around with kids, but here’s a shot of some of the people hanging around the field! (Thanks Katiemere for the pic!)
Some days, we go to the beach and play with kids!
One day, we drove about an hour and a half to the beach. In the morning we did door to door ministry, and in the afternoon, we played with some children on the beach! This is Meagan. We jumped over waves and threw the soccer ball around with her brother, Andy!
Overall, I’m loving Nicaragua. I love the people here, I love having a volcano IN MY BACKYARD, and I love seeing the things that the Lord is doing here!
Hasta Luego!!
Jordie
