As I sit and read on this quiet Saturday, my heart won’t stay still. I’m currently reading One Thousand Wells by Jena Lee Nardella, and I can’t help but get excited when I read it. This book tells the story of how she helped found Blood:Water, which is a nonprofit organization devoted to the cause of clean blood and clean water in Africa. HIV/AIDS is a huge issue that is present in Africa currently, and contaminated water is one of the leading factors that takes the lives of those affected by this horrible virus. I had no idea. I love to read books like this because they provide me with another perspective, but they also give me so much hope. Hope that something better is coming. Hope that there are good people in the world. Hope that my Father in heaven hears the cries of His people. They also drive me to action.

Although this action doesn’t directly relate with the book (It’s just an incredible book and I HAD to share) I am so so excited to announce that I will be leaving to go on the World Race in October! This is an opportunity that I have been praying about for about 2 years now, and my dream is finally coming true!!

I know what you’re asking… What is the World Race? Is it a TV show??

Not exactly! The World Race is a mission trip on which I will visit 11 different countries in 11 months. On my trip I will visit:

  • Costa Rica
  • Nicaragua
  • Honduras
  • Guatemala
  • Malaysia
  • Thailand
  • Cambodia
  • Philippines
  • Rwanda
  • Uganda
  • Kenya

Woah weeeeee that’s a lot of traveling, but I could not be more excited! On this trip, I will be spreading the Gospel in any way that I am needed! We could be building houses or other manual labor, evangelizing in large cities, holding Vacation Bible Schools for children, or maybe even just building relationships with people there. I am most excited about not only visiting these countries, but having the experience of LIVING in each one for a month! It will truly be the experience of a LIFETIME!

So why are you doing this, exactly?

That’s a good question too! I’ve always loved traveling, and I have such a heart for the world. I’ve been on three mission trips, and I’ve loved every single second. I’ve always wondered if overseas missions is the field that God is calling me to, and I figured that this would be the best way to see! I truly believe that God is going to transform my heart and my life through this process. I will be living out of my backpack for 11 months, and living in conditions that are completely different for those that I’m used to. My prayer for this trip is that God will break me of my selfishness that comes with the privileged lifestyle that I’m so blessed to have and show me where He’s calling me. I also pray that He will show me how to trust in Him with reckless abandon because I feel as if I’ve never truly had to do that before. This is my true action that says “Here I am, take me!”

I’m so thankful that you’ve taken the time to read my blog. Please subscribe and take this journey with me!

Love Always,

Jordie (:
