It’s a night most people DON’T remember. Sometimes that’s a good thing…other times, not so much. We’re talking about your 21st Birthday, a night that lives in infamy among college students and young people who get sloshed and leave it all out there on the bar. If you’re a visual learner and need a good mental picture, Google Image ‘wasted’….you’ll get the general idea here. Well…the scene was a little different for me on Tuesday, July 27th. Instead of a bar I was camping on a lake, and instead of beer and tequila I was sipping on water from my Nalgene and taking shots of spirit….THE Spirit! The day could not have been more perfect. Our beautiful R squad had canoed all our gear and food across the lake and we set up camp, built 2 fires, and began to cook a marvelous feast of chicken, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, and pineapple. We even had banana boats for dessert! (Let this be a forewarning, I will discuss food as much as possible, because it is my passion!) After we prepared and ate dinner a group of 6-7 of us got in the lake for a little late-nite swim. Before long, most of the squad was in the lake, and as i floated on my back and looked up at the moon-lit scenery around me, I realized there could be no better place to have my 21st. We ended up circling up and shouting declarations and praying the most raw and beautiful conversations to our Father I’ve heard in quite some time. The night was perfect. I was filled with the Spirit, and completely wasted in the love of my Father. I thank God for making me different. For putting in me a desire for something deeper than the crap of this world. All praise be to Him for instilling in me a passion for 200 proof Holy Spirit. I’ll drink to that!
