Typically on the world race, each month our team partner with a local ministry (church or organization) with the goal to advance the kingdom of God. But this month in Botswana looks a little different. We are staying in Maun, but we do not have a host that we are working with. Instead our goal is to find new possible host for Adventures in Missions to partner with. We are seeking out organization with like-minded Christian faith to send future teams to work with. We don’t have everything already laid out for us before we got here, but we are listening to the Holy Spirit to guide us to the right people. Time after time, The Lord has shown his leading.
As I set out for my first meeting, I didn’t really know what to expect. I was meeting with Johan Cloete and his wife, Maxine. Johan is the pastor of Maun Methodist Church. As we began our meeting, they shared their great love of people. They also share their desire to have a church full of the local people. Everything they shared with us was so heartfelt and genuine. Their desire to see grown in outreach and youth was so evident. Johan has a true understanding of the importance of the next generation stand up for Christ. He believes in youth and wants to empower them to lead. As the meeting came to an end, we thought we would just leave and go back to our campsite. But the Cloetes had a better idea. They took us to meeting with three other organization that we had tried to contact. They actually drove us around the all afternoon. They took such good care of us through showing so much generosity with their time. We were so blessed to have met them.
One of the organizations that the Cloetes took us to was Thuso Rehabilitation Centre. While there we got to meet with the direct of personnel, Dickenson Samaemo. This centre is a Lutheran organization which cares for persons with disabilities. they has patients of all ages who live at the facility. Thuso is a great example of serving others with an excellent standard in place. Not only do they serve the patients living at the facility, but they reach out into the community has well. They have a desire of educating the community of harmful life styles that could lead to disabilities. They are wanting to see a shift in band habits while also sharing the love of Christ.
Two wonderful meetings with outstanding people. I felt the Holy Spirit leading us the whole day. It was so awesome to see things unfold. When we are sensitive to the Spirit, we get to be apart of something great! I was so encouraged by both ministry and the desire to spread the love of Christ.
