Disclaimer: appointments and instructions will change sporadically while I’m on the race. With that said, team Spice of Life has received our first official ministry contact for 2013!!!

We’ll work with at risk teens and children for a ministry called Fundacion Resplandecer; which, according to spanishdict.com, translates to Shine Foundation. Our time will be spent teaching English, art, working the land, and SPORTS AND DISCIPLESHIP!!!!

For those of you who know me well, the last two expectedly excite me to no end!!! For those of you who don’t know me well: the last two excite me to no end!! Throughout college I was involved with every aspect of the UT intramural program and I’ve discipled a group of five legit guys at the Texas Wesley Foundation for the past three years. And for two summers I had the awesome opportunity of running day camps for inner city kids in Dallas, including sports activities.

I have a strong passion for sports and believe the Lord can move in powerful ways developing relationships through them. They develop trust, camaraderie, discipline, respect for authority, humility, just to name a few characteristics. Having the opportunity to see these two tools for the Kingdom intersect so early in my race gets me really excited for not only the start but the rest of the trip!! Looking into ministries like this actually guided me back to the race as a ministry option.

I have 21 days left in Austin, and 29 or so left in the States. I look forward to updating you all about this ministry once I get more info, and especially once I get on the ground.
