As I started writing this topic I realized I could talk about one or two things. I could talk about the root to our rebellious and desperate generation that has 27 million growing up without a father…

OR

I could share something beautiful that the Lord has been showing me about this mess that society calls “fatherless generation”

We see this generation of men and woman growing up seeking fulfillment in different areas of their life but in all the wrong places.

Many people attempt to find the missing father by: 1) seeking the approval of others, 2) being rebellious and feeding addictions which is a horrible substitute; 3) becoming pleasure-seekers and self seeking only to find themselves still empty; 4) seeking places that make you feel as if you belong somewhere.

It’s in relationships that this generation has been wounded most deeply, and so it’s in A relationship that they can be healed.

What do you think the result is when fatherless men and woman respond to the gospel and learn that God has a heart for the fatherless and desires to protect them, provide for them, and defend them?

That leaves us with a powerful generation of believers that have grown tired of looking in the mirror, half-living. A generation that sought after the Father, the ultimate Father, desperate for a life far better than the one they were living. A generation that found a Hope, a Love, and a Security they had never known. A generation that has latched onto The One that rescued them from playing the victim of a fatherless generation.

God knew what He was doing when He created this generation. He gave them this hunger to be loved by a Father.

Satan has been lying to us, stealing from us, and trying to destroy us from the ground up. He wants us to believe that  we are a fatherless generation. He likes that we think there is no hope in the world. He likes that we think that we are products of the sin in our lives, the victims of the sins of our families, the outcomes of the sin in our world.

And yet, God says the opposite.

In words God breathed, King David writes,

“FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS, DEFENDER OF WIDOWS—

THIS IS GOD, WHOSE DWELLING IS HOLY.

GOD PLACES THE LONELY IN FAMILIES;

HE SETS THE PRISONERS FREE AND GIVES THEM JOY.”

We can choose to turn this cycle around.

We are called the fatherless generation but I can’t help but see

My Father is here.

My Father is available.

My Father R E S T O R E S broken lives!
