In Thailand there is not just male or female, there is an official third gender. That gender is the Ladyboy. They are men that try to become women. Almost all of them get breast implants, and some of them get a full sex change. Sons are raised in a world where this is ok, even to the point where they are pushed towards this lifestyle.
A main attraction to be a ladyboy is the fact that they draw in MORE money than the women. The men that come to Pattaya to find women, often “experiment” with these ladyboys.
Early on in the week someone said, “Maybe the men accidentally take home a ladyboy, because they cannot tell,” and the quick response was, “THEY KNOW!” While some of their “changes” and outfits are pretty convincing, there are some things that cannot change such as: muscle definition, low voice, an adams apple, or big feet. Sometimes we cannot tell at first, but a minute or two later we KNOW for sure.
It is extremely dangerous to be a ladyboy, because they tend to get beat a lot. While the men fully know who they are taking home and “experimenting” with, it has become quite common for them to panic in the sexual act and turn to beating the ladyboy.
Some people may be wondering how many ladyboys there are around here, and I do not have an actual number. However, on soy six (6th street) it seems to be about every third bar is worked only by ladyboys. This is just ONE street, so who knows how many there are just in Pattaya.
As I observe and feel the wickedness of this city, I’m reminded of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Bible. Unlike Abraham, I am not praying God spare’s this city because of the few Christians here. Rather I am praying that God allows enough time for EVERY woman, EVERY ladyboy, and for EVERY “customer” to get a chance to hear about the God of true love. I’m praying that ALL of these sons and daughters, who are created in the image of God, get a chance to be redeemed by God’s Love, and come to know him.
