It’s ok to just sit and “be” because God is just as with you now as He will be when you

reach whatever state you’re striving for.

I believe a majority of our life’s time is spent in “the middle” as we move from where

we were to where we aspire to be.

If we view God’s fullness and freedom as only being attainable

when we reach the top of the mountain,

then we will walk through most of our lives feeling disappointed

because mountain top moments are few and far between.

I’m coming to find that Jesus loves the middle.

He operates best in “the space in-between.”

It is in these times that He can be found nearest to us.

And contrary to popular belief, He is more than happy to just sit and BE with you.

Your to-do list of personal and moral improvements can wait ’til tomorrow.

He loves you the same even if you never did another morning devotional, if you never

serve as a missionary again, if you never DID anything else…

If you have royally screwed up (again), if you have never set foot in a church before in

your life, or maybe you have no desire to ever step foot in a church again…

He still desires to sit down beside you and just… Be.

He may not say anything for a while, because He knows– as any good friend does–

that sometimes words do more harm than good. Sometimes you just need a friend to

sit next to you in silence.

Good friends are the ones who are neither frightened nor intimidated by silence, and

they are certainly not threatened by us “not being ok.”

So, if– like me– you find yourself in the middle

Don’t be afraid of where you are right now. Don’t try to rush your way out. Enjoy the

presence and comfort of the greatest Friend you will ever know.

Thank Him for the middle because it is here that you will be able to taste and

appreciate His fullness and friendship in a way you never could on the mountain top.
