Just to give you a little insight to what our coffee shop ministry looks like… the walls are made of a wooden open lattice-like design. It is completely free for bugs, creepy crawlies, frogs, rain, or whatever wants to enter. So the other night as we are coming back from dinner, the sky begins to turn completely black…
A STORM IS A’ BREWIN’!!!
My team and I are sprinting down our dirt road, hoping to make it home before it really starts to pore. We make it home right in time before the sky opens. Lo and behold… the power goes out!
Here we are 6 women in our hut, in a strange country that we are unfamiliar with, no electricity, and in a thunderstorm. Can you say…DISASTER?!? Next door there are small, cement hotel bungalows that we can run to that will keep us safe during all of this, but instead we pressed through the pain.
Instead of taking the easy way out and just running next door, we gave our fears to the Lord. We all sat in a circle, while one of my teammates played the guitar, and we sang songs of worship and prayed for safety and strength through the night. I realized that every instance my team and I push into that tough spot and call to God instead of running, our time spent these next 11 months are going to strengthen us to NO END!!
My prayer during this time:
Lord, I am tired of merely scratching the surface with you.
I want all of you.
I pray that over the next 11 months you strengthen my faith with you dear Heavenly Father. I want to go deeper than I ever have with you, so that I can be a constant witness of your glory. I ask that you help me use all past experiences as a tool to bring others closer to you. Over this next year, please help me press into any pain that I may be holding onto and give it all to you Abba Father. I want to become a shining star for you. I am grateful that you call me your daughter.
I am ready Lord.
Use me exactly how you choose. I am willing to go.
X
