Hey everyone! Thank you for visiting my blog and showing interest in what God has been doing in my life recently! This blog will allow me to share with you all my experiences and thoughts up until I depart for my 11-month journey on The World Race! It will also provide me the opportunity to stay connected with you all throughout my travels and share with you the stories from this new adventure in my life. I cannot even begin to explain how excited I am for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and how much it means to me to be able to share it with you all!

Who am I?

I am a daughter to Mark and Lori: Two encouraging, crazy, wonderful people who are madly in love with each other, with their family and with their creator. These two have always pushed me to step outside of my boundaries, to seek new adventures and to grow in my relationship with the lord every day.

I am a sister to my baby brother, Steven. When I say baby I mean a 6-foot-something sophomore in college, who I have officially decided to retire my wresting days against. But he will always be the same, sweet-hearted, bizarre, cubby-cheeked brother I love.

I am a recent graduate of E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University, with a degree in Public Relations. I hope to one day use my degree to do either Public Relations for an organization whose mission is to better the world, or to hold a role as a travel journalist, writing human interest stories, studying different cultures and being a voice for the voiceless.

I am a world traveler. The world is such a great big, mysterious, exciting place, and I intend to see as much of it as possible.

I am a missionary. I not only plan to see as much of the world as I can, but to serve as much of this world as I can. For as long as I can remember I have had a heart for missions. I have been so blessed in my life: blessed with good health, a great family, wonderful friends, a full stomach, and most importantly the opportunity to have always known my savior. Jesus asks that I pour out all of the blessings he has given me unto the least of these. He tells us to “Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick. Freely you have received, freely give.” (Matthew 10:8) And that is what I intend to do over this next year.

I am beautifully and wonderfully made in the image of Christ, and I know the life He has planned for me is better than anything I could ever dream up in my head. That is why I’m choosing to spend this next year, and the rest of my days, living the life he has planned for me. That is why I’m choosing The World Race.

God tells us, “For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.” (Matthew 16:25)

I want to live a life not for me, but for Jesus. I want to live a life that serves him, and go where he calls me, which is to GO and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

I can’t say that I won’t have any doubts from this point on or even while I’m out in the missions field, but what I do know is that God is here with me in this decision and will never leave my side, and knowing that gives me peace and the confidence to walk boldly forward in faith. And even though sometimes my uncertainty makes me uneasy, I find comfort in knowing that God is not afraid of my doubts. And that although what lies ahead may seem intimidating, He will never give me something I can’t handle.

Therefore, I am ready to step away from the familiar; the comfortable, to chase after the life that God intended for me to live. One in which I walk confidently in faith; a life full of serving as the hands and feet of my savior. I am excited for the opportunity to make a change and to be changed, and I am willing and excited to see what amazing ways God uses me through this experience.

All my love,

Jordan
