Entering month 5 was full of surprises. One big change was, I along with two other squad members [Darcy and Teagan] was asked to step into the role of Squad Leading.  That meant that my race would change drastically. I would be stepping into the leadership position of caring for and leading the squad.  My team would dwindle from six to three, and us squad leaders would be split up for the majority of the month working with specific teams individually.

Here is a little background on squad leading courtesy of Teagan’s blog: a raised-up squad leader takes over for/fills the roles of the alumni squad leaders (individuals that have done the race and go back out onto the field to serve the squad). This month has been all about shadowing and training to learn how to best serve the squad the rest of the race. Some responsibilities of the raised-up squad leaders are praying over the ministry placements for each month and placing teams, checking-in with teams, praying over the squad, building relationships, relaying how things are on the field to our squad mentor back in the states. The gist of it is that as a raised-up squad leader our ministry focus changes from the ministries we serve each month to the people on our squad.

But, the greatest news of all is…

  I AM FULLY FUNDED!

The final donation I needed should hit my account in the next couple of days! I honestly cannot say thank you enough for all your support and all your donations. If you would have asked me when I began this process if I would have thought this would have been possible I would have said no! This has been such a radical experience already and I know God still has so much work to do in me.

Thank you for the love and support. COULD NOT have done this without you!

A few logistical notes:

  • Now that I am fully funded, any further contributions on my blog will no longer go to me, but instead will go to the World Race General Fund to be used as the organization sees fit.
  • If you had an automatic payment set up for monthly contributions through my blog, you will need to stop those payments yourself.  Even though I am fully funded the payments will continue either until your pre-planned end date or until you cancel the automatic contributions.                                                                                                                            Any questions please contact Donor Relations 800-881-2461 or [email protected]
  • Beyond the $17,361 that I’ve raised, there are personal items that are not covered in that amount such as my final plane ticket home, any personal items such as toiletries, activities in the country, etc. If you would like to donate towards my personal fund, you can definitely do that by mailing a check made out to me, Paypal, Google Wallet, Venmo! Please email me for further information, [email protected]

CHECK OUT MY VIDEO BLOG WITH SOME HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS MONTH!

This last month in Cambodia, was beyond amazing. I loved it more then I could imagine and it was probably my favorite month of the race thus far.  I was able to see a ton of the country as we travel throughout it to meet and check on teams!
