My time in Rwanda came to a quick close as we had issues with Canadian visa extensions for 2 of our squad members. Rather than continue to hassle with the immigration office and pay quite a bit more money we decided to head for Kenya a few days early. We boarded a bus on Friday bound for Nairobi, Kenya. Twenty-six or so hours and 2 border crossings later we arrived. Praise God for abundant grace as we traveled and smooth border crossings. All of us were commenting how quickly and smoothly the trip went.

As I walked out the door Friday morning, our Rwandan contact, Pastor Moses, said to me, “And thank you for praying for Lori, her skin is healed!”

Allow me to take you back to Mozambique last March. I was holding one of the precious babies, Lucillia, in the baby house. It was one of my first days there. She had a bumpy rash all over her arms, legs, stomach, face. I thought maybe it was scabies, but they told me it was eczema. She was squirming all over and crying and scratching herself until her skin bled. I was holding her and praying for her. I was crying out to God, “What do I pray for her to be healed??” I kept hearing Him say, “Grace.” So I prayed grace over her for the next couple of hours as I held her and tried to distract her. She continued to fuss and scratch, and I continued to plead His grace over her. In those hours I began to get a fuller revelation of what God’s grace means for us. His grace brings physical healing, not just spiritual restoration. I hadn’t realized until this time that I was limiting His grace in this way. I was in Mozambique for ten more days and never saw Lucillia scratch herself again. The rash disappeared! It was incredible!! Glory to Jesus!!

Flash forward to one of our first days staying with Pastor Moses and his family. He was holding his daughter, Lori, and started telling us that she has a skin condition and the doctors can’t figure out what it is. It itches and they’ve tried different treatments, but nothing has worked. Immediately my mind went to Lucillia. I shared with Pastor the healing work I had seen God do when I prayed for her and asked if I could pray for Lori. Again, I prayed His grace over her. Just a short and sweet prayer.
In the days following I had forgotten to check back in and see if her skin was better. I’m so thankful he remembered to mention it to me as I was leaving! It builds my faith, and leaves me longing for more opportunities to share His healing grace with others.

Glory to Jesus for His healing grace!
