I’ve been feeling a little homesick lately. I’m not sure what it is? It could just be that point in the Race. The newness has definitely worn off. We are in continent number two without a visit home. (It really felt to me like we should be flying Bangkok to home for a quick visit before we continued on to Africa.) 🙂

It’s in this season of homesickness that I’ve begun to notice some passages of Scripture in new light.

Psalm 90:1 God, it seems you’ve been our home forever

Psalm 91:9 Yes, because God’s your refuge; the High God your very own home.

John 15:4 Live in Me. Make your home in me just as I do in you.

John 15:7 But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon.

John 15:9 I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home in my love.

Home takes on a whole new meaning when you haven’t seen yours in months and it really was my favorite place to be in the whole world…the blue couch, my cheery walls, my cloud-like bed, my “secret place” closet, and most importantly the family, friends, fellowship, laughter and love associated with “home.” It’s in this season that God is beginning to teach me a new definition of home. A definition that is outside of time, space, and location….

I don’t pretend to fully grasp what it means. All I know is He brings me great comfort as I read these words, and realize….my home really is to be completely found in Him.
