Well, it’s time, right? Some of you have been wondering, who are the people I’ll be on The World Race with? I am on the “R Squad“, also known as the Joy Squad, composed of 38 people from around the U.S. and Canada. This 38 is then divided into 6 teams of 6, plus 2 wonderful Race alumni, Tim and Di, who are our Squad Leaders, showing us the ropes for the first 4 months.
I want to introduce all of you to Team Agape Life Song; the family I will be living with, eating with, adventuring with, ministering with, learning with, worshiping with, laughing with, crying with, etc. on The World Race! They are incredible people, and I can see how each one has been hand-picked by God to be in this group of six. I am so thankful for each of them and what they bring to our team!

Pam Wilson, Chris Garcia, Heidi Tobe, Ashley Robichaud, Matthew Poole, and I enjoying Chick-Fil-A!
Let me tell you a little bit about Pam: One word comes to mind when I think of Pam: HEART. She has one of the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen! She gets so excited when she talks about Uganda, it is beautiful! She has a mothering, nurturing heart. She is full of so much love and compassion, ready to lavish it on others. She hears from God, and plays such an essential role on our team! Not to mention, she loves to cook. I am a big fan of that fact! 🙂
Aaah, Chris: Talk about full of JOY and encouragement! He’s one of those people you just want to be around because you feel really good hanging out with him. He has a heart of gold…seriously, he really cares about people and he loves well. I really believe he is a student of people, watching them, learning about them, reading books to better understand what people need and why they are the way they are. All to love them well. It’s beautiful! Chris also has a childlikeness in the way he reacts to and interacts with God which I am so challenged by (Matthew 18:3 And he said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”)
Let me to introduce you to my sister, Ashley, (also known as AshRo): This girl is a delight! She’s funny! She’s really open & inviting, welcoming & loving with people she’s just met. She makes people feel at home. Ash has a heart to see the captives set free. I can’t wait to see how God uses the freedom she’s received to bring freedom to others. She has such a tender, beautiful heart of compassion and love. She has a depth & strength to her that you might not notice at first, but it is there and it is powerful. I’m thinking she is going to keep us pretty entertained over the next 11 months (not to mention supplied with coffee!) 🙂
Introducing Heidi! Heidi & I share a special bond – the 2 introverts on the team. 🙂 I have a feeling we will counsel each other through the times when we are really stretched in this area & I’m looking forward to that comraderie. Heidi is a passionate person. She is a powerful, bold person. She is willing to sacrifice what is necessary; what God asks her to. She is generous & gracious. She loves deeply and she loves well. She carries a peacefulness around her everywhere she goes. She’s also really funny! She’s got some great accents, which always make me laugh! 🙂
Matthew is a humble, loving, strong man of God. I really appreciate his transparency and openness. He has so much revelation on grace and the cross of Jesus Christ. It oozes out of him onto those who are around him. He is full of the Word of God. His life demonstrates his value for and pursuit of holiness & righteousness. Matthew knows how to love his sisters well. He takes care to make women feel valued, cherished, and protected. He is a gifted piano player and singer (I hear he plays guitar too – looking forward to that). 🙂
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. I cannot wait to get to know each of them even better over the coming months. We will grow together, challenge each other to be the very best we can be, individually and as a team, and shine the light of Jesus to the world around us!! Let them know we are Christians by our love.
