My week in Ireland was a good week. God continued to grow me in different ways! One really cool thing about coming on the race is getting to experience freedom of worship. Being in an atmosphere where I could truly worship freely has never happened before the race. I have come across many traditions and religious ways that have hindered worship over and over. There are many times where we are sitting in church and we let other people dictate how we worship because of fear of what other people think and a closed mind!!!! We have to get over the fear of other people and open up our thinking. We are our own worst enemy in worship!!!
There are many churches that believe you worship quietly, with slow songs, only hymns from the B.C. era, (which is cool but I’m just sayin), face must be in a form that looks like you’re constipated because this means that you are truly convicted by the song. Then there are churches that believe that if you are not standing up the entire time, hollering at the top of your lungs, or shouting at every word, (even article words like the, a, an,), then you are not into worship. Then there are the churches that meet in the middle and believe that two fast songs that make you stand up and two slow songs that make you sit down is how it should go.
Now lets explore more about beliefs in worship. There are churches that express the gifts of the spirit and believe that God has to do something super huge and crazy in worship all the time! Then there are other churches that if you mentioned about gifts of the spirit you might cause an uproar!!! Then there are some that just have no idea and think it is better not to talk about it. To me all of these things are really foolish!! This unnecessary logic has caused many people to split or part ways in church.
What is corporate worship about anyway? Ooh! Ooh! I have an answer!! It’s about Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That’s all it’s every been about!!! I thought we come together to worship the Lord with all of our hearts!!! Somebody came up with this crazy idea that it’s not about me!!! Therefore, how about when we come before the Lord, we ask Him what does He want from us!!!! How Lord do you want to meet us as we come before you!!!! It’s all about you!!! That could look like anything!! Let God be big and know that He can do anything!!! Let’s let God show up how He wants to! We must ask God what does He want from us and how we should worship!! Give Him complete freedom to come as He pleases.
Therefore if that means He wants us to prophecy over people, do it. If He wants us to speak in tongues, do it. If He wants us to pray over people, do it. If He wants us to sit down, do it. If He wants us to stand up, do it. If He wants us to sing hyms, do it. If He wants us to sing fast or slow songs, do it. If it is just silence, do it. If He wants us to dance undignified, then do it as well, just make sure that that’s what God wants from us!!! Forget about how we believe God to show up or any other silly traditional thinking!! Let God be God and let us receive Him how He comes and not how we want or perciece Him to come. Let us make sure we are where He wants us. All things must be qualified by God and God alone. After all it’s His worship, isn’t it???!!
