This month we’re living at a Christian Rehab Center/Halfway House with a bunch of guys who are on fire for Jesus. Most days we wake up bright and early, and hit up the construction project in the backyard. The guys here are helping build a Christian Community Center. It’s a huge building, being built with minimal machinery, and maximal man-power. It’s crazy to see how much progress they’ve already made, with basically no modern equipment. The days can be long and hard, but mostly they’re fulfilling and super great.

We’ve had the chance to build some solid relationships with the guys that live here, even though at the start of the month they didn’t speak a lick of English, and we didn’t speak any Russian. But we’re all learning. Our new team is super great, and really clicking. I’m continually impressed by the selflessness and humility my teammates show. A solid leader like Myles, and eager-to-love-and-serve brothers and sisters like Nate, Dresdyn, Naomi and Kelsie, makes for a really great team! Mary’s team is also living here and serving with us this month, along with our awesome SQL Sam.

It’s very evident that the church we’re working with here has the Lord’s annointing. They have several different forms of outreach happening, and they are effectively spreading the light here in Transnistria. Weeknights from 7-8:30 they hold English classes at the church, for community members. We’ve been helping to teach these classes, and have had the opportunity to interact with locals who aren’t christians, but are still coming to the church for the English classes. We also help with a community youth program at the church on Saturdays, which again is mostly non-believers. (Or pre-christians 🙂 )

This month is definitlely on the fast-track to being one of my favorites. We’re living in Transnistria, a country that doesn’t technically exist, and is joint-controlled by Russia, Moldova and the KGB. (Mostly the KGB). We’re living in a house where we’re woken up at 6am every morning by a prayer meeting where the guys are hollering, literally crying out to the Lord, covering the day in prayer. We get to haul concrete and sand all day, and get our butts kicked by construction work. We get to join in effective outreach, building relationships with community members. And do all of it with a team that is super selfless, and really desires to see the Lord move wherever we go.

I’m excited to see what the Lord does with the rest of this month. Our team would appreciate your prayers for continued safety, and for our eyes to be opened to where the Lord is working, so we can jump on board and join with Him. Also be in prayer for the rest of our squad – this week Joshua broke his arm, Angela broke her ankle, and Candace’s eardrum ruptured. Please pray for quick and supernatural healing! And for protection for our squad.
