Today we arrived safe and sound at our destination in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. After flying all night, staying up, and carrying a LOT of luggage, we arrived in Santo Domingo. We were greeted by a friendly Dominican driver in an old schoolbus. In true third world fashion, 70 of us crammed into the bus, (with no air conditioning!) and rode on the highway to our destination. We saw the beautiful deep blue ocean of the Carribean, and all of us were shocked at the beauty of the nation amidst such devastating poverty. The driver, in a gesture of goodwill, blessed us with some Michael Jackson, which blared through the home stereo speaker that was rigged to the inside of the bus.
