31 reasons why my mom is a Proverbs 31 mom.
1 The sayings of King Lemuel an inspired utterance his mother taught him.
My mother has taught me a lot.
2 Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb!
Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers!
My mother prayed for another child and had me at a ripe old age.
3 Do not spend your strength[a] on women,
your vigor on those who ruin kings.
My mother has always told me that the right one will come along when it is time.
4 It is not for kings, Lemuel
it is not for kings to drink wine,
not for rulers to crave beer,
My mother has taught me to do things in moderation and not be controlled by my sinful desires.
5 lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,
and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.
She has always been one of the first to remind me why I should never drink too much.
6 Let beer be for those who are perishing,
wine for those who are in anguish!
My mom has let me try wine before…is that bad?
7 Let them drink and forget their poverty
and remember their misery no more.
Not sure what this verse is about…but I’m not in poverty or misery.
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
My mother has always taught me what justice is…and how to pursue it.
9 Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
My mother has always been in example to me in terms defending those in need.
Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character
10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.
Let’s face it…my mother is worth more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
My Dad knows and trusts that she is for The Lord and desires to serve Our Father.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.
Shes a pretty good caretaker.
13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.
Have you ever seen my mom paint?
14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.
OMG I miss her food so much…especially sausage bread. “Bring me some from afar.” She has also been known to fry up some bacon and drive 9 hours with it.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her female servants.
She doesn’t have any female servants that I know of but she definitely gets up before I do. Sometimes I even get biscuits and gravy!
16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
Did you know she’s chairman of building and grounds at church?
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.
Like I said…have you ever seen my mom paint?
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.
She is pretty good at making wise decisions with money spending. For us and for the church.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
My mom is pretty bomb at sowing.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
and extends her hands to the needy.
She is always willing to jump in and help when needed.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
I typically don’t like to wear warm clothing because I’m a weirdo…bit she definitely tries to make me dress warm.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
My camouflage bedspread she made is pretty legit.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
Did you know my dad has been an elder at church off and on for as long as I can remember?
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
and supplies the merchants with sashes.
My mom doesn’t sew and sell…she sews and gives.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to come.
Ok…so sometimes she worries but I think every mom does at some point. But she still carries herself with strength and dignity 🙂
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
She always asks me the hard questions. And it’s usually something I haven’t thought of yet but need to. And I know it’s always out of love.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
and does not eat the bread of idleness.
My mom can work circles around me…enough said.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Mom, you are blessed.”
29 Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.
Yep…
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
You’re still beautiful…but most importantly you fear The Lord.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
Happy Mothers Day Mom!!! LOVE YOU!!!
