We’ve been repeatedly blessed throughout our time support-raising. We first began while we were still teaching in South Korea, some of you may have been a part of our marathon support-raising event.
For those who have joined us in this adventure later, Cinthia ran 10km while I ran 21km. We invited people to bet how long they thought it’d take us to finish, the person who bet closest to our final times won a prize which we sent from Korea! It was a lot of fun, and helped us stay in shape!
Since then we’ve had a “We’re Leaving South Korea”-sale, various food sales, a dinner, coffee sales, and various generous donations along the way.
Why am I recounting all the areas you have supported us? Well it’s because Cinthia and I have continuously doubted our ability to raise the full $28,000 to go on The World Race. We’ve been reassured from countless people that “God will provide everything we need”, and that we should “continue to have faith that people will give”. To be honest we know God will provide, but sometimes when you don’t see it, it’s hard to fully believe.
This hit me last week when Cinthia and I were preparing the lesson for the kids at our Church, The Sanctuary Mississauga. The lesson focused on Thomas (John 20:24-31), and how he said (paraphrased) “I wont believe Jesus has returned until I see Him.” I realized that we were being just like Thomas, and Jesus proved himself to Thomas, just as He has with us.
So far, Cinthia and I have been fortunate enough to never be behind a support-deadline.
Through all the support we’ve received, we are just a few hundred away from being at 50% of our support-raising goal!
With your support we now have enough to confidently go to training camp (50% by May 10th).
We are sure that with your continued support we will have enough to depart for our mission trip (60% by June 7).
And we have faith that we will have enough financial support to get us through the 11 months of this amazing mission opportunity (100% by December 31st).
Thank you for showing us that we can do it! Even though we’re already at the 50% mark, there’s still another half to go. Here are some of the ways you can continue to support us:
- Continue to buy coffee from us, it’s fair-trade, organic and from Guatemala!
- Invite people over for coffee and have us tell them about The World Race. Don’t have coffee? See above 🙂
- Share our brochures with others (if you’d like some let us know!)
- Donate items for us to sell at our garage sale in Mississauga (drop-off May 3 – May 7)
- Keep posted for other events
- Donate! (one-time or monthly)
We’ve still got a long way to go for our support-raising, please consider partnering with us on a monthly basis: get take-out once less per week and that savings could be $20, $40 or even up to $120 a month that could go a LONG way towards helping fund our mission trip.
