Bora80In February,  Cinthia and I began shopping for our supplies. We were able to pick up our backpacks at MEC (for the American’s reading this, MEC is our version of REI).

It’s shocking to imagine that we will be living out of a backpack for 11 months. That means our clothes, sleeping bags, tent, and other supplies all have to fit in our packs!

— FAST FORWARD 2 MONTHS —

Yesterday Cinthia and I were able to head back into Toronto for another trip to MEC. We spent over 3 hours looking at everything from headlamps to shoes.

We also went to “Coast Mountain Sports” which is being changed to “Atmosphere”, that doesn’t really matter to us besides the 20% everything sale they had! We figured it’d be better to buy stuff 20% off and return it if we change our mind, than buy it full price in a few weeks!

After our shopping spree, we’ve now purchased: backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, pillows, shoes, headlamps, plates, water bottles, and rain jackets!

So far here is what we’ve got:
Supplies

On May 1st we’ll be heading to Barrie for a tent sale! Hopefully we can find something big enough for us (3-person tent) and light (hopefully less than 5 lbs). After that we should be set for supplies.

We’d love you to help us with the cost of our supplies! If you’d like to chip in on any items in particular let me know and I’ll let you know what they cost!

We’ve still got a long way to go for our support-raising, please consider partnering with us on a monthly basis: ditch the coffee once a week and that $10/month can go towards our mission trip!
