Talk about a new month.
New surroundings, new team, new struggles, new victories, just an all around newness.
As I mentioned in my last blog, this month is “feministry” and “manistry” month, which means that the guys and ladies are serving separately.
We had a complete mix-up within the teams and I was placed on a team with 4 other ladies, all of which are people I have wanted to get to know all year but haven’t really had the opportunity to. We are serving with 3 other teams so in total we have a party of 21 ladies going on!
I love how intentional God is with the people He surrounds us with for certain seasons of our lives. I have the most incredible team to be doing life with this month; we like to refer to ourselves as “Team Tall Glasses of Water” due to the fact that the shortest girl on the team is 5’9.
Within the first 5 minutes of our first team time I was blown away by the realness and transparency of our discussion. I think we all have the realization that it is month 8 and the race is shortly coming to an end. There is no time for surface relationships and conversation, its time to press in, its time to keep it real or don’t keep it (shout out to my pastor, PCH of South Hills Church).
We are serving with a ministry called The Anchor Center. They have 10 Care Points through out the city of Nsoko (pronounced in-sogo). These Care Points prepare meals 5 days a week for 50-70 kids in the local area. They also have a clinic, a community water pump and playground on their ministry site that we are serving within.
Another cool thing about this month. It’s Parent Visit month! That’s right, World Race allowed us to invite our parents to come visit us here in Swazi for one week. Isn’t that crazy?! 8 parents in total decided to come and they will be here on the 22nd to serve with our ministry. I am actually really excited to be a part of it. I love meeting people’s parents; it gives more perspective as to why people are the way they are. Should be fun.
What else? (Sorry, sometimes blogs come naturally and sometimes they don’t. I just feel like when I only get Internet once every couple of weeks I have to fill everyone in on the continued craziness.)
A prayer request… a few of my squad mates got malaria last month L They are doing ok and have started the necessary meds but it’s still not a fun process. Strength and restoration sent their way would be great!
Well, for now…. that’s all folks! Appreciate you still reading my blogs and following my journey; I can’t tell you how much that means to me.
Still being stretched,
Jolene
