Disclaimer:
In avoidance of giving away the awesomeness that is the World Race Training Camp to future racer readers I will need to be rather vague with specific occurrences of Training Camp. However if you care to know how this heart was greatly impacted continue reading…
(no particular order)
1.) It’s just stuff.
Be it your favorite jacket, an iPod, a fork or a Pumpkin Spice Latte… at the end of the day, its just stuff. And stuff I can live without.
Matthew 6:26
for your heavenly Father feeds them.
And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are?"
2.) Just when you think you can’t, you can.
We put too many limits on ourselves. I’d say 95% of limits I give myself are because I am too afraid to find out what lies beyond them. I have never been more challenged, stretched and humbled than I have been the last 7 days at Training Camp. With every day came a different opportunity to learn and grow. Did I enjoy every second? Not at all. Did I get frustrated a few times and even punch into open air? Possibly. Would I do it again? In a heart beat.
3.) There is power in the name of Jesus.
And the good news doesn’t stop there. Jesus said in John 14:12, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these." Are you kidding me? Greater things that Jesus? Knowing there is power in the name of Jesus is a beautiful thing… but operating in that power is a different ballgame! Well let the game begin!
4.) You think you know, but you have no idea.
You truly can’t judge a book by its cover! Last Saturday I met 60+ new people for the first time. After 24 hours of observing people, you naturally come to some conclusions (don’t judge me, you know you do it too!) I’m not saying 1st impression conclusions are always right but they do happen.
“We are definitely going to butt heads”
“She’s too shy”
I would normally pride myself with a good sense of judgment (just being honest… and humble of course) but I am happy to say that although I thought I had most of my squad figured out, I had NO idea. God has absolutely orchestrated and positioned our squad for greatness. We have such creative minds, strategic thinkers, servant hearts and encouraging people on our team!

5.) Let go of control.
For those of you who know me, there’s no argument that I often like to be in control of situations. If not “IN” control at least “IN THE KNOW” on what’s going on. Well how about hanging up that hat for Training Camp! Again, I can’t go into specifics but let me just say that it was so rewarding not knowing what was going on day to day. It allowed me to be open and expectant.
So special shout out to the World Race Staff who organized and executed a phenomenal training camp experience. From start to finish there was purpose in every detail. I knew you all were legit from the beginning but you far exceeded the expectations I was asked not to have. lol
I could write 27 more blogs on Training Camp alone but I’ve decided to limit it to a few. I am so looking forward to introducing you (in my next blog) to the rest of the Squad and my AMAZING Team of 7 individuals I will be doing life with next year.
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support!!! 10 weeks until launch!
In Awe,
Jolene
