Well it is about the end of August and so I have been on the World Race for two months now. All in all, it has been a great learning experience and at many times a roller coaster ride. The newness has definitely worn off and God is providing me with many opportunities to learn and grow. So most mornings, us as team B.O.L.D. have been doing some great bible studies. We started off in Luke and recently we have been going through the book of Acts, one chapter at a time. This is where we see an amazing transformation take place with the help of Peter and John. With the help of Josh Bruce – I wanted to share what we have been learning.

Here is a little information to set the scene: At this point in the bible, Jesus has already been crucified and raised from the dead.  They have now been left with all the words and wisdom Jesus had provided along with the Holy Spirit to reside within them as a helper.
Okay, so now what? John and Peter are there to continue spreading the news of the gospel and sharing the love of Christ. They are probably a little nervous because they don’t have Jesus to do these amazing miracles. However, they do have the Holy Spirit now residing in them and they have amazing faith. Now, with the Holy Spirit, Peter and John set out towards the town square, traveling a path that Jesus had walked with them many times. They arrive at the main at the main gate of the city. Here they find a man who has been crippled since birth. Each day the friends of this man bring him to this gate to beg for money. It was a pretty good idea since this was the most traveled gate into the city.

Now it says that this man who can’t walk has been brought to this gate every day to beg; therefore, Jesus and his disciples must have passed by him numerous times before. Now then why didn’t Jesus heal this man if he had passed by so many times before?
So as usual, Peter and John pass by this crippled beggar and the man, with his head down, naturally asks for money. Then, Peter and John-filled with the Holy Spirit-stop and say to the man:

“Look at us.” (this was unusual to the beggar since no one ever seemed to ask or wanted him to look up at them) “Silver or gold I do not         have, but what I have I give you!” “Rise to your feet and walk”

The man had faith, immediately rose to his feet and walked with them into the temple. I will tell you more about the impact of “Giving what you have” in a follow up blog soon, but for now let’s discuss Peter and John’s actions.
Peter and John, even with all their nervousness, went out with the Holy Spirit and gave what they had. They did not have money to offer the guy, but they gave something so much better. They knew that financially they didn’t have much to give but they leveraged what they did have to give.

After hearing about this great story in the Bible, it was our turn to put the lesson to work and take action. Therefore, while on the World Race, I am going to give what I have to the people I meet. I am going to leverage the things I am good at, the skills I have obtained, and the love I can provide. With the help of the Holy Spirit I am going to find ways to use my strength, my love for the outdoors, and the other gifts I have been blessed with to touch the hearts of those I come in contact with on the World Race. After all, it is a decision we must make each day. The newness has worn off and there have been some tough times, but each day I must make the decision to love my team, my squad, and all the persons of the world!

With that in mind, I would like to challenge you wherever you may be with this:

Leverage the gifts you have been blessed with, give what you have, and make the choice each day to love. So stop and ask yourself what you have to give and make the decision to give it. You can’t imagine the positive impact it will have.

P.S. If after reading this and asking yourself what you have to give, you have found the answer to be financially, my wife and I would love for you to help us out. We are still about $3000 short of the total amount of money we need to finish the World Race. That amount includes cost of living while on the World Race, International Insurance for the year, shots, vaccinations, immunizations, and travel costs to get back home once the trip is finished. I ask that you pray about this and if you can give any amount we would greatly appreciate it. Your impact will be felt all across the earth.
