From the Fellowship Raleigh Newletter. An Update on Marissa and I! CHURCH HOPPING TO CHURCH PLANTING |
We are just getting started, but God is already dramatically changing lives through Fellowship Raleigh. I would like to introduce you to Johnny and Marissa Pratt. They are recent college graduates and a newlywed couple who have become an important part of planting Fellowship Raleigh. Immediately after we arrived in Raleigh we met Johnny and Marissa at Panera for lunch. I (Matt) knew Marissa from summer camp growing up but had not spoken with her for years, and had never met her husband, Johnny. Before our lunch, Johnny and Marissa were spiritually frustrated Christians who were church hopping and flat out church skipping for a month. Over the past few months Johnny and Marissa have begun to take ownership at Fellowship Raleigh. They don’t just show up, they are helping us plant this church. Marissa faithfully attends our women’s gathering on Monday evenings and Johnny single handedly planned our men’s camping trip in September. Yesterday, I had lunch with Johnny and Marissa again. Over lunch I asked them to explain how their lives have changed as a result of Fellowship Raleigh. They shared with me that the difference has been “night and day” in their spiritual lives and in their marriage. They also shared that they’ve attended churches that taught the Bible, but have never been involved with a church plant where they were pushed and trained to share the Gospel with others in their sphere of influence. As you know, our mission is to glorify God through making passionate disciples of Jesus Christ who love God, one another, and the world. Seeing Johnny and Marissa go from church hopping to church planting is why we’re doing this and why you’re supporting and praying for us. |
