Some are happy, some are sad
Some are joyful, some are mad
Some full of tears, while others full of grace,
You never know what you’ll discover on young Sam’s face
At just two years of age he’s already lived a life
Full of discord, abandonment, heartache, and strife
His mother didn’t want him at just two days old
So she left him abandoned by the side of the road
Sam and his twin thrown out in the mud
Covered in scum, afterbirth, debris and blood
The enemy had him marked – set up for disaster
But Sam had been set apart by his heavenly master
Despite his tragic circumstances and lack of love
God continued to smile down from the heaven’s above
For Sam was created for a purpose – for a masterful plan!
To grow up and live as a godly man.
To maybe have a family and wife of his own
To live a life of sacrifice to his King on the throne
But when the twins were found it was nearly too late
Sam’s brother had stopped breathing and had met his fate
Although his life was short and so terribly sad.
He had been called back to heaven to be with his dad
For God loved him so much that he just couldn’t part
With His little Cambodian angel that he had loved from the start.
Although we’ll never know his name or fully see him in bloom
Rest assured that the Father knew him before he was even in the womb
For the Lord had shaped him and counted every hair on his head
So we can’t lose our joy because he his dead
For death is an opportunity to receive an invitation from Christ
To live an eternal life that will more than suffice
Although he couldn’t even walk at just two days old
Sam’s little brother is now running and playing on the streets of gold.
As for Sam he’s healthy, alive and well
This little boy of just 2 is coming out of his shell
Although Down Syndrome has caused some apparent delay
Little Sam is a survivor and well on his way
He was taken into care by a local pastor
Saved from a life that began as disaster
It’s impossible to imagine what God has in mind
For little Sammy to experience, explore, and to find
For Sam is a lover and will quickly melt your heart
As he has turned his many faces into a brilliant work of art
There’s not a day that goes by on my World Race
That I don’t think about Sam and that angelic face.
Although Sam may be an outcast in another’s eyes
He’s a child of God, a first place prize
When I gaze into his eyes it’s when I truly see
That it’s Jesus himself staring back at me.
So when I sit and recall the many faces of Sam
I remember just how lucky I am.
That God has chosen me to be in his story
To achieve greatness here on earth and live in his eternal glory
So please, enjoy the many faces of Sam
The same faces that have been saved by the blood of the Lamb.
