So here we are in Nakuru, Kenya as a team that is seeing the glory of God expressed through the smiles of little orphan school children and the vast beauty of Africa that has become world renown. Four years of prayer and hoping, reality has set in that this place is definitely in poverty but you wouldn’t be able to see that in the smiles of the people that we walk by on the dirt roads and the tons of little kids that will never cease to ask us, “How are you?” Swahili is a beautiful language that our team is learning, but more beautiful is hearing it from the lips of Kenyans in worship to God in passionate and Spirit filled voices. Each night we are worshipping with our ministry contact family before we head to bed singing in English and Swahili, as we have two cultures, two different skin colors, two languages, but all lifted up to the same God.

Our contacts are some of the sweetest people I’ve met on the Race and cannot seem to get enough joy in expressing how glad we are here. Bishop Laban and Gladys came to Christ as teenagers, and bishop Laban is the pastor of a Pentecostal church called Nakuru Worship Center. He has also started an orphanage which has about 150 little Kenyan children and a school that more students come onto the same property for education that’s not near American quality or the sanitation. But this family has done so much already for this community, and our team is blessed to be a part of it as we each day have gone to visit the children to spend time with them and we are planning on also doing door to door evangelism and outreach events here with our contact. This weekend is a revival for the city and on Sunday we’ll take part in their services.

Words of grace just continue to pour from the lips of these people as they have encouraged our team so much. Whether it’s worship at night, prayers before the incredible Africa meals, or in conversation they never quit giving praise to God for all the blessings that He gives us. They have been able to help so many people. One little girl named Evaughn came to them when she was little and hungry as an orphan, and another boy named John lost his mother when he was months old and his grandmother, seventy five years of age and blind, wasn’t able to take care of him. Another lady, Evangelist Jane, has been making our meals and serving us this whole month so far. Her husband died back in 2004 from HIV AIDS and was left with three children, including little Faith, and the family has taken her in to take care of her. This family has taken in many like these and on the seventh of this month it will be exactly ten years since they have started this ministry.

Our team is so excited to be here this month and to see God not just impact them through us, but to see our lives these next few months radically be changed because of the simplicity and love these people have not only in life, but also in our God. We’ve only been here for four days and with three weeks still I’m excited to see God move in ways I’ve never imagined.
