A week where they are sleep and food deprived and pushed to the limit.  Where they find out what they are made of and who they are.

Training camp is kinda like that.  Every expectation you have of what the World Race is and how you feel about others will be tossed into the wind.  I'm not going to say exactly what happened because there is an element of suprise surrounding the whole experience.

  • You will be changed.  The Holy Spirit will surround you the entire time and it will inspire you even more to never let it go.
  • You will learn how much fun it can be to play in the rain.  (If you are lucky, you can experience this without your tent flooding)
  • You may be freaked out at first when people are healed and talk in tounges, but at the end of it you will be screaming the Lord's name at the top of your lungs with your sore arms in the air
  • Take a shower before you go to the airport.  I was suprised how easy it was to go a week with one shower and one bath in a lake.  But keep in mind most people at the airport are clean and remember deodorant before they get on a plane.
  • You will meet the most amazing people you have ever met.  You will shed a tear when you find out you will spend the next year living with six people you feel like you have known your whole life.
  • If you don't like talking about all kinds of bodily functions with the opposite sex, get used to it.
  • Bring an insturment if you play one!!!
  • Sleeping in one tent with 15 other dudes is more comftorable than you would think.
  • Don't get used to being in air conditioning, you probably won't have most the time it on the Race.
  • Listen to what God is telling you.  I switched squads the second day I was there even though I didn't want to at first,  but I ended up being up exactly where He wanted me and I couldn't be happier.  God got me into the Race then put me where he needed me.
  • A girl with a broken leg was healed and danced for Jesus!!! I cried so hard!

I was a pretty shy person before last week because I was afraid of what I would say. I would I never in a million years thought I would raise my hands in worship and pray out loud in front of so many people.  That all changed real quick.  God will make you who He wants you to be if you let him.  He will give you the words to say and the love to share.

I got baptised under a waterfall at camp with my team.  I felt God's love through my team and I forgot about my rocky past which has held me back so many times.  I want to let go of everything and totally rely on Him and break the chains of materialism and care about nothing but love.  God is faithful and He will constantly change you if you listen.

Getting baptised in the river.

My amazing team

OH YEA!!!  Bring some instant coffee if you are a coffee drinker.  I had headaches the first couple of days cause they didn't have coffee there.  You will thank me if you bring some.
