Since I have been accepted into the World Race Gap Year I’ve been asked so many questions. I love all the questions but sometimes I don’t have an answer. So here is a debrief of some common questions.
1) When do you leave?
I leave in October 2016. I don’t know the exact day I will leave the states all I know is it’ll be early October. So basically I will leave before my birthday and start traveling the world as an 18 year old. Also, it means I have less than 10 months to get all my stuff for the trip and all my fundraising done.
2) Where are you going?
My route starts in Thailand. I’ll stay there for 3 months then I’m off to Malawi in Africa. Then to finish my 9 month mission trip I will be in Guatemala.
3) What are you doing after?
I’m planning on going to college. I will probably go to CMU or Metro to study Nursing. I have thought about being an English teacher as well. I’m hoping that while I am on this trip God will show me what his plan is for my life whether that be nursing, teaching or something totally different.
4) Who are you going with?
My squad. I haven’t had the pleasure to meet any of them yet but I can’t wait till I do. The past month since I’ve been added to our group message I have gotten to know my squad members. They are amazing people and I’m so blessed to have them in my life. We are a family and we haven’t even met yet.
5) How does your family feel?
They are very supportive, a little sad, but they know this is what I want to do. Nothing else has sparked my interest and they believe that I was meant to go on this trip.
6) How are you going to get the money?
I need supporters who are willing to give donations. The trip costs $13,805 and it covers my travel, living, insurance, food, etc. I keep praying for support and working really hard to get the word out about my trip in hopes people will show interest. And the good part is people have!
7) Why?
Why not? I love God and I believe He has a really big plan for me. He called me to go into the world and help His people. I put all my trust in Him and gave up my plans to do this. I wish I had a broad answer but really I wanted to help people and God gave me a way to do that with this mission trip.
Thank you for reading and if you have more questions let me know! I would love to give an answer.
