Foolish

  1. resulting from or showing a lack of sense; ill-considered;unwise: a foolish action, a foolish  speech
  2. lacking forethought or caution.
  3. trifling, insignificant, or paltry.

When you are living like a disciple, the world calls you a fool. In a time where knowledge and logic rain supreme, anything and everything can be “defined” or covered in the veil of rationalism to make sense of it all. The sad and scary part about it is even the church is becoming infected with this mindset. By definition the people in the bible who actually accomplished something for the Kingdom were foolish people, why? They stood on something that transcends human thinking, faith. Faith is reserved for those who are willing to look foolish in the eyes of man. Lets get the atheist perspective on faith:

The person who is certain, and who claims divine warrant for his certainty, belongs now to the infancy of our species.”

Christopher Hitchens, God Is Not Great

Strong words from someone who was thought of as one of brilliant thinkers of our time.

A Few Fools

  • Moses, waltzed into Pharaoh’s courts and said, “Let my people go”… fool…
  • Joshua said “Sun stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.”… fool…
  • Jesus said “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”…fool…
    • To prove that this is foolish talk, after he finished saying these words, “many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him.” – John 6:66 (I didn’t plan that)

My Last Words

The last thing I said to the team leaders for their teams before they parted ways to begin their first month of ministry on the field was this, “This can be a trip where you kiss babies and shake hands and it will be blessed… or can you seek the miraculous. You have read the blogs and heard the stories now it is time to go make your own.” Consider these the words of a fool. In a world the shouts ,”erroneous” from the mountain tops… in a Church consumed with naturalism, I believe

The Fruit
Since being in India our squad has witnessed  blind people healed, tumors shrink, lame walk, demons cast out… people have come to find real salvation and not just another idol to place on the shelf. So you be the judge, who is the fool now?

The Truth

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;
(1 Corinthians 1:27 ESV)
