I’ll be traveling to each country with my squad (40 to 60 other people) and from there we will be split into teams of 6-8 to go and do ministry with a church, ministry, or organization within the country for that month.
These are the 11 countries I will be traveling to starting next October. I’ll be spending 1 months in each country and will be partnering with different organizations that are involved in different areas of ministry. Please join me as I start to pray for each country and each partnering organization.
(I’m having trouble uploading the pictures of each country so If you want to see both the description and the picture click —> https://www.worldrace.org/?tab=routes&subtab=october-2016-2)
India
With nearly a sixth of the world’s population within its borders, India is a country bursting with people and culture. Home to a diverse array of beliefs from Hinduism to Islam, to a blend of folk religions and other faiths, it is a country of pluralism with twenty-nine languages spoken by over a million native speakers, multiple religions, cuisine, socio-economic classes, and political parties. India’s struggles with poverty and crimes of human trafficking, forced prostitution, religious persecution, and more. You might work with local churches to encourage believers and most likely be challenged by their testimonies. Your presence’ll bring hope and truth to those that society deems “untouchable.”
Nepal
Home to Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, Nepal literally sits on top of the world. In addition to adventurous experiences you will have here, you may also visit widows and orphans in their times of distress and protect the innocent who are prey to human traffickers. This month of your World Race experience will submerge you in a culture that is desperate for an encounter with the living God.
Vietnam
After nearly a century of French rule, in the mid-20th century, Vietnam was split into communist (north) and non-communist (south) halves. By 1975, Vietnam was made whole again, but as a communist country. Even with the economic reforms and restoration of diplomatic ties human rights are limited in Vietnam, especially freedom of religion; most of Vietnam is Buddhist, less than 10% is Catholic. Here you’ll be fed with pho, delicious beef noodle soup, and in turn feed believers and pray God’s light and presence everywhere you go.
Cambodia
Cambodia houses one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Angkor Wat, a Hindu temple and monastery built during the Khmer empire in the 12th century. It later became a Buddhist complex a century later, and today, just over 96% of Cambodia is Buddhist. Almost 30 years ago, 1.5 million Cambodians died at the hands of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge regime. Today, Cambodia is a source, transit point, and destination of human trafficking. Unfortunately, the government is struggling to stop it. The people of Cambodia are thirsty for the hope you can bring.
Botswana
Although it’s one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world, Botswana has the second highest HIV infection rate, next to Swaziland, its southern neighbor. The land itself struggles with drought and desertification yet boasts the largest elephant population in the world in one of its national parks. The majority of the people identify themselves as Christians but very much need people like you to advance the kingdom with love and in power.
South Africa
While it’s been several decades since apartheid has formally ended, there’s still more healing and reconciliation to take place in South Africa. One of the wealthiest countries on the continent yet much of the population living outside the cities is poor. Like the rest of sub-Saharan Africa, this country struggles with a high rate of AIDS/HIV. Host to the 2010 World Cup and breathtaking natural attractions, it’s also a place full of kingdom potential, waiting to be released — by you.
Swaziland
The Kingdom of Swaziland is one of the last remaining monarchies in Africa. Home to 1.1 million people and breathtaking scenic views, it’s also where the world’s highest HIV/AIDS infection rate lives (26.1% in adults and over 50% of adults in their 20s). It’s estimated that by 2050, Swaziland may cease to exist. Young orphans are scattered throughout this nation in desperate need of attention. For years, Adventures has been committed to seeing these statistics reversed. Here, you’ll most likely find yourself involved in a variety of outreaches, including education, orphan care, care point feedings, and more.
Argentina
Argentina is the largest Spanish-speaking country in South America, the second largest country on that continent, and the 8th largest country in the world. Known as a Crisol de Razas – “a crucible of races,” or a “melting pot” – it is a nation of immigrants, where the mix of languages and cultures have created something all its own. This nation is steeped in tradition; their unofficial national religion is Roman Catholicism, but only 20% of the population practices it. Protestantism counts for about 2% of the population. Your squad will travel through Patagonia, one of the most remote and beautiful areas on earth, minister in church plants, youth ministries, and backpacker, hostel, and extreme sports ministries, visit the Southernmost city in the world, Ushuaia, and debrief in Mendoza. By living and sharing your faith in Argentina, you will be the visual representation of the transformative work of Christ.
Chile
Because Chile stretches the length of South America, it is home to an impressively varied climate, from the world’s largest desert in the north to Patagonia in the south. It is a country rich in history, culture, and the arts. But Chile still struggles with traditionalism. Attempts for long-term growth in the church has resulted in more formal religion that is often without the spiritual gifts or true revival. While in Chile you will live your faith in such a way that everyone, whether practicing their religion or not, will be compelled to ask who your hope is in.
Bolivia
One of the most beautiful places in the world, Bolivia is also one of the most indigenous countries in South America. And with all of that variety comes opportunity. Bolivia is in need of orphan ministry, evangelistic outreach, church plants, and more. You might find yourself working in the heart of the rainforest, in the Andes mountains, or on the streets of a city market. Ministry will include church planting, discipleship, construction, and possibly sharing hope and restoration at rehabilitation centers, before your squad visits one of the natural wonders of South America: the Salar de Uyuni, or Salt Flats of Bolivia. Be prepared for a fantastic experience, and watch for God on the move as you live your faith in Bolivia.
Peru
The cradle of Incan civilization, Peru is full of epic wonder; yet she is barely acquainted with her Creator. Though many Peruvians practice traditional religions, God is up to something in this country. The Peruvian church thirsts for truth and authentic spiritual breakthrough. Its political past is riddled with guerrilla violence and corrupt leadership, from which the indigenous poor and urban affluent are recovering. Your squad will live in Iquitos, a city only accessible by air or boat because it is surrounded by dense jungle on all sides, and will serve in a variety of different ways – partnering with our local long term missionary, doing construction for a Bible translation organization, and possibly traveling on the river to share the gospel with remote tribes, before heading to one of the 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu. Are you ready to live the adventure of the Gospel in the jungle of Peru?
