This was written October 4.
Winnie, Aaron and David, the American
missionaries at the Youth Center, took one of the kids in the youth
group out to pizza for his birthday last night. They were nice
enough to take us along and treat us to dinner. His name is Sven and
he just turned 16. He’s a happy, open kid. He plays drums and wants
to be either have a good, well paying job or be a drummer in a rock
band. Danielle and Martha were asking him all kinds of questions
about himself, like what his favorite candy is (skittles), his
favorite bands (Metallica and Slipknot because their drummers are the
best), and his favorite food (Capricosa pizza, the kind we were
ordering that night).
Today we went shopping at Inter Spar a
fairly large grocery store chain here (which, by the way, was
connected to the Spar grocery store chain we frequented in Ireland).
I made sure to pick up a box of skittles for Sven. When I gave them
to him, his face lit up. I really like him. He is soft spoken but
confident and he’s very respectful and kind. Just a nice kid. I’m
hoping we can encourage him and build him up this month.
