What a hectic week it has been! Please let me fill you in on
some of the details that have taken place since my last update about launch in
Chicago. On Saturday, September 9, our squad took a flight from Chicago to New
York-JFK. We arrived in New York around 11:30PM, and didn’t have our next
flight until the next afternoon. Instead of sleeping at the airport, many
people in our squad including myself left the airport to tour New York City. It
was really cool to get to know some people in my squad while seeing some sites.
On Sunday, September 10, at around 2PM, our squad then took a flight from New
York City-JFK to Atlanta. We were only there a couple hours because at 7:45PM
our flight departed to Johannesburg, South Africa. This is one of the longest
flights in operation coming in at about 15.5 hours. The flight was very smooth
and we landed in South Africa at about 5:30PM local time. We had a chance to
grab something to eat at the airport then we took a bus to a conference center
where we crashed for the night. On Tuesday, September 12, we stayed at the
conference center recovering and briefing on where we would be going. I got to
learn a lot about South Africa and Zimbabwe from the staff that worked there.
We also had some awesome prayer and worship as a squad before we parted ways as
teams. We stayed one more night, and on Wednesday, September 13, we left the
conference center for Park Station, Johannesburg, South Africa for our bus ride
to Harare, Zimbabwe. Please check out my timeline of the bus ride there in my
next blog which is sure to entertain.
