Dear Friends and Family
First I wanted to say thank you so much for all your support and prayers. I wanted to share with you what happened today as my new team and I were meeting this morning.
First let me explain what our ministry is this month. For the first two weeks while we are here in Indonesia we will be doing something called Unsung Heroes.
Unsung Heroes is basically a month in which we are given a…very low… budget, and told to go out and find ministries that the World Race doesn’t currently know about. Going into this month as the UH Coordinator I was anxious about not having a set plan, but at the same time I had peace about the Holy Spirit leading us in whatever direction He wanted to lead.
We got in last night to our hostel around 2:00, made our way to our beds and made plans to be up by 9:30 to discuss UH and get our stuff ready to check out by noon.
Our Squad leader Stephanie book us a one night stay at Teduh Hostel.
After feasting on the complementary breakfast from our hostel we all decided to take some time with the Lord and then later go to a coffee shop to get into more detail about finding new ministry hosts.
Denise and I were down stairs and while she was doing Bible study, I was sending out email and doing Bible study on my laptop. Denise was hesitant to read her Bible down stairs, but ultimately felt the Lord leading her to do her Bible study down stairs. The man working at the front dest,Steven, spoke english and I felt the Lord convicting to talk to the him, but I was going to do so after Bible study.
While we were still sitting in the lobby area he approached the two of us and asked if we were missionaries. We began to tell him about the world race, and then went into telling him about Unsung Heroes. He told us that the reason he spoke english so well was because he studied in Nebraska.
I asked him if he went to church, and he proceeded to tell us about the biggest Christian church in Jakarta and that he knew contacts who would have ministry opportunities for us all around the area.
While we were discussing our mission, he asked if he could help in any way. I proceeded to tell him about our budget. After learning about our finances, he offered to cut us a deal on the lodging cost and then told us that we could use his hostel as a base.
We asked if we could use the kitchen so that we wouldn’t have to eat out, and he said that it’s ours to use as long as we’re here. Along with that we are now only paying $2 per person that includes a FREE breakfast.
He was also born here, so he knows the area and has offered to help us in any way possible. He has given me his contact through the church and I will be emailing her to schedule appointments as soon as I finish typing this. She also spoke PERFECT english.
When the entire team found out, we were all moved to tears. The Lord has not only provided for our team, but has given us a divine appointment that will lead us to find HIS ministry.
Steven doesn’t work the front desk usually, and the only reason he was here was because someone was out and they were short staffed. He usually doesn’t even work on Tuesdays down here, but because he saw Denise doing Bible study, He approached us. That can’t be anything but our God. A divine appointment that we prayed for this morning.
God got started before we did.
Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
