During our time here in Peru we have had some amazing ministry opportunities. One day we had a church service at sunset in the middle of a dirt road on top of a mountain. Other times we got to minister to the children in their communities or visit people in their homes.

One day we went out to the streets of Carabyillo to hand out gospel tracts and to invite people to church in the evening. We went to a big park and we gave one to an older man who was sitting there sorting through rubbish. He immediately dropped the rubbish and started reading it. I could see that his heart was so thankful. We left and he just kept reading. Then we handed one to a young girl who was riding her bike. I later saw her get off her bike and sit down on a park bench just so she could read more about God. We came up to a group of boys and handed them each one. There was one boy in the tree and he was reaching down to us eagerly saying what about me? What about me? I want one!

In all of these people I saw the same thing. They all had a hunger for God, each one of them had a longing for their creator. This is what God has sent us out among the nations for, that the lost may be united with their Heavenly Father.  What an honor that God would use me to work in the lives of His children. That He would use me to help them realise the hunger they have for Him and how deeply He loves them. My heart overflows with joy and thankfulness.

However, then a great sadness filled me as I realized something. How often is it that we forget about this God, that we lose our hunger for Him. Why do we so often resist the one who satisfies completely for that which only satisfies temporarily?

My prayer for you and me is that we will realize the hunger that we have for intimacy with God and that He alone will satisfy us completely. That we will surrender completely to Him and receive with open arms all that He has for us.
