Over the past week I have learned that God is a God who cares about the big things and the little things. Anything that is important to us is important to Him. I have come to realise that I have absolutely no reason not to trust Him. At training camp I had cravings for a nut bar. I expressed this to a group of my squad mates as we were sharing about food that we miss.
I was watching the camp fire and talking to God about how nervous I was about finding out what team I will be in. I said to Him I know that He is in control and that I trust Him. Someone tapped me on the shoulder, and these words followed: “I found this nut bar in my bag, you should have it.” I had a need, and God provided. I can trust Him. Later that week I ended up with the most amazing team handpicked by God. I could not have done a better job myself.
Later that week I had another need, I needed a hug. I told God about this that night during worship. The next morning I was greeted with a big bear hug, just what I needed. But God went above and beyond. He gave me so much more than what I thought I needed .Not only did I get more than one hug, but I felt so deeply loved.
Today I had an unexpected need. During my time at training camp I had an assignment due. I finished this before leaving and one of my dear friends volunteered to hand it in for me. Today we discovered that she forgot to hand it in, I thought she was joking. The result of this should have been that I fail the course and don’t graduate this year.
My only option was to trust God. He reminded me that He is in control, that He sees the bigger picture. God filled me with peace and joy that did not come from me. By His grace I was not upset with my friend, but rather loved her more. He filled my heart with a praise song. We prayed, and God did the rest. The course co-ordinator said that he will accept my assignment and that there will be no penalty. Praise God!!
Please be encouraged as I have by Philippains 4:4-7. Know that God truly does not want us to be anxious about anything, and when He says to present our requests in every situation, He means every situation. I pray that you will also experience the incredible peace of God.
“4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.-Philippians 4:4-7”.
Love,
Joané
