This month in the morning 4 days a week we are helping the church resurface the basketball court. Right now we are chipping away at the old surface made of some kind of hard cent type stuff.
As we chip away at this hard surface we are so loud we cannot talk or really communicate with each other. This gives us the opportunity to think and pray and just be alone with God. I usually use music to dim the loud noises of the construction going on behind me.
Anyways, as I have been chipping away at this hard surface I realized that this cement was like the lies we all hear throughout our lives that we hang on to and start to believe.
Things like your ugly or not worth being loved or will never have a marriage or you aren't smart enough or you are not too much. These lies are planted in us through other people's actions and what they say. We begin believing them as we hear them and there the cement sits and hardens.
It covers our heart and keeps us from hearing truth when it's shown to us. We keep this hard surface around our hearts because we don't want to feel the pain that happens when others mess up. No one is perfect and we all hurt other people. But the problem with this hard surface is it doesn't let anything good in. It grows thinker with the lies we hear but won't let any truth in.
So in order to hear truth in our lives we must chip away at the lies people have planted in our lives. We must sit and chip little by little away as we hear truth spoken to us.
Let me take a minute to speak truth into your life.
You are worthy of being loved! God created us to be loved. We are all different so we can appreciate each other. You are worthy of love.
You are beautiful! God didn't make any mistakes with you. You are exactly the way God wanted you. You are not too much or too little of anything. "Your are beautiful, my darling, there is no flaw in you." Song of Solomon 4:7
You are smart. If you weren't you wouldn't be reading my blog 🙂 but seriously everyone has intelligents. You are smart.
Now as I chip away at this flooring and the lies in my life. Start chipping away at the lies in your lives. Don't let other people give you lies, find the truth and fill your life with that.
I love you all and look forward to hearing how you are chipping away at the lies in your lives. Let me know how I can pray for you either by commenting on this blog or by shooting me an email at [email protected]
Love you all and miss you!
